These were our choices for the Melbourne races. However, when we got to the gathering spot, we realized you didn't get to bet on the horse you wanted. It was a sweepstakes, where you put your name in, and it was matched up with a horse, and that's just the way it was. As it turned out, neither the horses that we had chosen, or the horses our names were matched up with won, so, we just enjoyed the "nibbles."

The couple with the fruit stand also pointed out various flowers and plants with bright leaves. Those floral pieces, combined with the sula Steve was given when he was in the "triathalon" in Fiji, became one of the winning hats during the Melbourne Cup Race celebration at the resort. And the prize was... a bit more chocolate for the Schmidt's and Paulys to enjoy.
That is definitely a winning hat. Nice job!
