On to Kerikeri

Oldest stone bldg
First missionary home
Today we went to the Haruru Falls that has the reputation of being one of the supposedly rare horseshoe shaped water falls.  Nice, but not spectacular.  After that we drove to the town of Kerikeri to see the oldest wooden home in NZ that was built for a missionary in 1825 and the oldest stone building that was built in 1832.  Greta and Steve went on a tour of the two buildings led by a Maori lady who is a direct descendant of the chief who lived in the area and served as the protecter of the missionaries.  We found her to be very gracious and appreciated her perspective.

  1. Greta, did you leave Crockie at that old wooden home perhaps? I see you up there walking around.....it's possible.
