We signed up for a trip up the 90 mile beach and on up to the Reinga Lighthouse. An eleven hour trip takes more than two events to fill the time, and the tour leaders came through. We wandered through the windy little coastal roads up to the beach, which is actually 64 miles. They taught us the REAL way to catch tua-tua. (If you're not a Kiwi, you're probably going to call them clams.). Barry, our driver, encouraged us to take our shoes off and get out into a few inches of warm ocean water and start doing "The Twist." As soon as one of our heels felt a tua-tua, we'd reach down and scoop it up. The results - clams for dinner!
