The Cream Cruise

Today was designated Cream Cruise Day.  The name was taken from the days when a boat would pick up cream from the various islands and also took on the role of postal carrier.  That ended in 1954 and at some point in time it became a tourist option, going to 14 different islands, pointing out historical sites, and continuing the role of postal carrier.

Lunch was picnic style, pulled out on our stop at Otehei Bay Island, an island with a sandy cove beach, small cabins, buildings for showers, and one for cooking.  The grassy rolling hills were covered with sheep.  The hills are also crisscrossed with walking trails, with great views of all the surrounding bays, coves, open water, and sheep of every size with things to say as you walk by.
